Riversole: Transforming Discarded Sandals into New Ones

We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Sungai Watch, a dedicated environmental initiative committed to cleaning up rivers in Indonesia. Together, we're embarking on a journey to turn waste into wonder with our latest project - RIVERSOLE

With only 1000 pairs available, each pair represents not only a statement but also a significant step towards environmental conservation.

'Riversole' represents not just a product, but a vision of hope—a symbol of what is possible when we come together with a shared purpose.

Sungai Watch, founded in 2020 by Gary, Kelly, and Sam Bencheghib in Bali, Indonesia, is a grassroots environmental initiative dedicated to cleaning up and protecting Indonesia's rivers.

‘Sungai’ means ‘river’ in Indonesian.

Through community-driven clean-up efforts and advocacy, Sungai Watch raises awareness about river pollution and works towards sustainable solutions for cleaner waterways.

With a team exceeding 100 dedicated river warriors, they tirelessly combat plastic pollution, striving to keep our oceans free from harm.

To date, they've gathered an impressive 1,718,562 kilograms of plastics, including 70,000 kilograms of sandals - that's 140,000 sandals!

But where others saw waste,

we saw opportunity.

By joining forces with Sungai Watch, we set out to transform these discarded sandals into something beautiful and meaningful.

What's more, for every pair of Riversole sandals purchased, another pair can be made anew, ensuring that your contribution to cleaner waters continues beyond its end of life.

"When I first visited the Sungai Watch processing facility I was so impressed with how they are extracting so much waste from the rivers, cleaning it, and then turning it into useful products. This is the kind of solution that Indonesia and the whole world needs!"

“By creatively recycling sandals from rivers, we're not just cleaning up our waterways; we're redefining waste as a resource. Every sandal we collect can now be upcycled into a new sandal”

“Step into something way cooler than just any sandal. With Riversole, you're rocking sandals that are part of a bigger story—thousands rescued from Bali's rivers. Each purchase propels the removal of many more”

"Riversole is the result of two years of dedication and innovation. We're turning old sandals from Indonesia's rivers into new, impactful footwear."

Co-Founder of Sungai Watch

“Fashion is one of the most polluting industries out there. People buy new, throw out, and buy new again. This collaboration between Sungai Watch and Indosole is exciting because it shows the possibilities of turning waste into value. We are creating a secondary market for all sandals out there that end up in the ocean or a landfill. Millions of sandals out there are being disposed of every year. We’re hopefully not just turning old sandals into new sandal but showing other businesses a path forward.”
