That is Indonesian for 'Happy Independence Day'. Today, we celebrate Indonesia's 78th year of independence, and we at Indosole have a special bond with this remarkable country.
Indonesia holds a significant place for us as it's where the idea of recycling tires for sandals was born, where we produce all our sandals, and where most of our Indosole team comes from. Our name, "Indo-sole," pays homage to this beautiful nation.
Indonesia is a captivating archipelago in Southeast Asia, comprising over 17,000 islands and boasting incredible diversity, with 700+ living languages spoken. While Indonesian serves as the official language, numerous regional, ethnic, and indigenous languages thrive throughout the country.
This cultural richness is further reflected in Indonesia's various religions, ethnic groups, and indigenous tribes, totaling over 1,300. The country embraces its motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika," meaning "Unity in Diversity."
Indonesia's uniqueness extends to its wildlife, including the Komodo Dragon, Orangutan, and Hornbill, along with other captivating species like the Javanese Rhino and Sumatran Elephant, although the Balinese Tiger is sadly extinct. The country's flora and fauna will leave you awestruck.
Indosole takes immense pride in being born here and contributing to Indonesia's well-being. We work towards removing old tires from the streets, raising awareness about pollution, promoting ocean and forest health, and collaborating with local artists and brands to share inspiring stories.
