Crafting Change: The Fusion of Traditional Artistry and Indosole

Crafting Change: The Fusion of Traditional Artistry and Indosole

Over the past few months, Indosole Japan has been collaborating closely with the Zindagi Project, an incredible initiative co-founded by the fabulous Bandana Tewari and Huma Adnan. Together, we've been on a mission to empower refugee women through the magic of artisanal craftsmanship. Our shared vision? Sandals that are not only stylish and earth-friendly but also socially impactful. And guess what? We made it happen! The final product is a stunning Indosole sandal with straps adorned with beautiful, hand-crafted pieces. Each piece tells a story of resilience and heritage, making fashion a true force for good. Each strap made by women displaced by conflict and other hardships. For them, practicing traditional crafts can be a powerful means to reclaim their identity and rebuild their lives.Indosole Japan played a crucial role in making this partnership a success. Their dedication and hard work—especially from Shinsuke Hidaka, Alisa Evans, and Nobuaki Yanagida—were key to bringing this vision to life and ensuring the collection's seamless integration at Isetan Shinjuku, one of the most prestigious department stores in Japan. The sandals blended right in with all the curated items around, proving that conscious consumerism can still be classy and fashion-forward.We also partenered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on World Refugee Day to promote the sandals and welcomed three of their members to the Isetan Pop-Up. Including the UNHCR logo on the boxes of our collaboration pieces highlights our shared commitment to making a meaningful impact.Every pair of these special sandals you purchase helps uplift communities and make a real difference.Stay tuned for more updates from this exciting journey!
Dive Into Change With OceanFolx

Dive Into Change With OceanFolx

Drowning is a huge issue worldwide, specially in low- to middle-income countries. In Indonesia, despite women often being primary caregivers, most do not know how to swim- this is where OceanFolx steps in.We’re a proud sponsor of this amazing volunteer-led group in Lombok that runs a comprehensive program that starts with 10 swimming lessons based on the Australian Swimming Curriculum. Following these lessons, participants can choose to continue with ocean swimming or surfing at their own pace, along with participating in yoga and workshops on sustainability. What sets OceanFolx apart is their collaborative approach, involving local women in the creation of their programs. This ensures the initiatives are culturally relevant and impactful. The team have gone above and beyond with their plan, and upon completion, participants receive a certificate and an allowance to cover any lost work or childcare costs. In 2024, OceanFolx assisted 13 women with essential drowning prevention skills, which they have passed on to their families, benefiting 10 children directly.
